Use of Glass and Plastic Vials in Pharmaceutical Industry

Both glass vials as well as plastic vials play a special role in the packaging and storing of medicines and other products in the pharmaceutical industry. There are some manufacturers and packaging companies that prefer one over the other for varied reasons. For different products, there are different types of vials that are seen as perfect for storage and administration of medicines and health supplements.

Glass vials are considered as the safest way to store medicines. Glass is non-porous and impermeable material; hence, it does not react with the ingredients in the glass vial. The medicine’s quality and taste remains fresh and safe for a long period of time. They are highly durable and consistent. Lastly, one can recycle and reuse glass vials, bottles and jar again and again due to its recyclable quality. Glass vials are of three main types depending on the product to be stored; these include, amber, clear and colored.

On the other hand, plastic vials are also popular amongst other plastic products for the storage and administration of medicines and similar products. They are easy to use and can be dispensed easily as well. One does not have to worry about breaking the plastic vials and they are available in a variety of colors, styles and shapes. It is also a cost-effective product for packaging. Plastic vials also do not react with the products stored in them; hence, they are also durable and the right choice for storing medicines.
